RDF19 Speaker Details
The NHS R&D Forum are delighted to announce the following speakers for RDF19, The 2019 Annual NHS R&D Forum. RDF19 will be held at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton from the 12th-14th May 2019. The Annual NHS R&D Forum is one of the largest gatherings of R&D Directors, Managers, Administrators and related functions in the UK. RDF18 saw over 600 people attend the 2 day conference with 60 speakers, over 60 posters and more than 20 exhibitors.
Trudi Simmons
Job Title: Head of Research Finance
Organisation: Department of Health and Social Care
Biography:
Trudi read economics at Leeds University. On graduating, she joined the National Audit Office where she qualified as an accountant. She worked on two major health value for money studies whilst at the NAO before moving to a financial institution in the private sector. Trudi returned to the health sector in 1993 joining North East Thames Regional Health Authority as its allocations manager. She has held a variety of health finance posts in the intervening years including Deputy Director of Finance at a London Health Authority, Finance Performance Manager at London Regional Office and Advisor to the Foundation Trust Policy Unit within the Department of Health (DH) leading on Payment by Results and its impact Foundation Trusts. Trudi joined the Research Directorate (now called the Science, Research and Evidence Directorate) of the Department of Health in 2005. Currently Head of Research Finance, she manages the Department of Health and Social Care’s £1b+ research budget as well as leading on DH policy relating to the costs of research. All things excess treatment costs fall within her remit
